What is Milk Thistle Extract?
Silybum marianum (Linne) Gaertner is the dried, mature fruit of Silybum marianum (Linne) Gaertner, family Asteraceae.
Character: Achenes are long-oval, slightly curved, and slightly flattened; about 6-7 mm long, up to 3 mm wide, and about 1.5 mm thick. the upper surface has a prominent cartilaginous, smooth, yellow margin; the bottom has a depressed seed navel. The pericarp is smooth, brown-black or rough, gray-brown, with black or gray-white stripes. Fatty oil and dextrin grains are present in the straight germ containing two thick, flat cotyledons.
